For the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, this is the time of year in which we focus on making every child in foster care’s Big Wish come true: the wish for a place to call home.
That’s kids like Kevon, whose Big Wish was just granted!
Kevon, now three, spent the first several years of his life in foster care. Maddie, an Extreme Recruiter, was assigned to Kevon’s case. She was determined to find his biological family members. Meanwhile, Kevon was featured on KSDK’s A Place to Call Home. After diligent search, Maddie successfully found and contacted Kevon’s maternal grandparents. As it turned out, this side of Kevon’s family had no idea he had been born. They were eager to step in – and step up – to get him out of the foster care system. They knew that Kevon belonged with his family.
This past November, on Adoption Saturday – a holiday celebrated nationwide – Kevon was formally adopted by Michelle and Keith, his biological mother’s first cousins. Kevon is now celebrating the holidays with them for the very first time!
While Kevon got the happy ending he so deserved, for about 4,500 children who are impacted by foster care in the St. Louis region, the care and support of a permanent family is still just a dream.
Your investment means that our team can find permanent family for more kids just like Kevon. Click here to donate to our Big Wish campaign.
